The LG Pop is the new byword in the world of affordable Smartphones. Small in size and large on features, the new LG GD510 Pop has already gained popularity for being simple, stylish and affordable.

This is the smallest LG touchscreen mobile in the world. With a brushed aluminum body, a large screen and a single button at the bottom corner, it is classy and elegant. The front panel is dominated by the display screen. The 3 inch WQVGA touchscreen has a resolution of 240x400 pixels. It is perfect for viewing images, web pages, videos etc. The only button on the front panel of the phone is used to receive and cut calls. Pressing this button also leads to the homescreen.

The user interface is easy to use and touch screen is extremely responsive. It has three homescreens. The first homescreen consists of shortcuts and widgets. You can add, drag and drop widgets and shortcuts to customize the page as per your convenience. You can create shortcuts to applications which you use frequently so that you don't have to scroll through the menu each time. The second homepage lists contacts, their phone numbers, photos etc. The third homepage displays the LG LiveSquare page.

This latest LG model comes with a built in camera, GPRS, EDGE, video and audio player, and many more useful features. The 3 mega pixel camera doubles up as a video recorder. Digital zoom is present. It is easy to focus and capture stills and videos. You can share images over the internet or send them to your friends using Bluetooth.

You can download music and video files from the web or transfer them from your PC and then enjoy them on your phone. This is a great way to keep entertained while on the go. The audio and video player supports popular file. If you want to listen to broadcasts on local and national radio stations, the built in FM radio works quite well. You can listen to music, talk shows or news over the radio.

The LG Pop comes with GPRS and EDGE. The Teleca Obigo browser loads web pages easily and is quite comfortable to use. Web pages appear natural and are easy to navigate and view. You can zoom web pages with a touch of your finger.

The 8GB memory means that you won't have any trouble storing images, videos and other data. The phonebook can store details of over 1000 contacts. You can also assign ringtones and photos to contacts.

This new LG handset is eco-friendly too. It comes with an optional solar panel at the back which you can use to charge the battery. Expose the panel to sunlight for 10 minutes to get 2 minutes of talk time.

This little Smartphone is perfect for those who are looking for essential multimedia, entertainment and connectivity features packed in a simple and stylish touchscreen mobile. To top it all, it is affordable and well within the reach of the common man.

The LG Pop and newly introduced Samsung Jet are two of many new touch screen phones reviewed by this author.
