There are millions of people in this world who are keen to become a US citizen. The reason behind this urge is the developed economy and the availability of opportunities to work and study in the country. The US government gets millions of applications every year and it is tough to select the people who are eligible for becoming the citizen of the country. To ease up this process, a person needs to pass the citizenship test. Now anyone who wants to become a part of the America and its ever growing economy will have to pass this test and get the citizenship.

Before a person decides to take up the test, he should know what the test is all about. The main aim of the test is to check the knowledge of the person about the history of the United States and the culture that prevails. English is the national language of the country and this is why the people who appear for the test need to have proper knowledge of the test and should be able to read, write and speak the language. This is also a part of the test.

Your test will be taken by a special officer who will be commissioned by the federal government of the states. The US citizenship test is also referred to as the 'civics test'. It is up to the examiner to ask you to speak the answers or to write them down. The topics in the test can be varied and it is thus important for you to know about all of them. Anyone who wishes to give the test should have thorough knowledge of the US constitution, the history of the state and the way the governments of the state work.

To get some help with answering the questions, you can get in touch with the community based organization. You can conduct an online search to know their office which is nearest to your home. The use of some of the guides that are meant to help you in answering the citizenship questions can also be used. This process can be made much easier if you follow some simple steps.

Make sure that you have bought or downloaded the latest form to qualify for the citizenship test. Until the year 2010 it is N-400 form that you need to purchase. It is important to fill up the form in the right manner and with correct information, only then you would be able to sit for the US citizenship test. Filling an outdated form will do no good to you and your application may even be rejected and you will have to wait for another three years to give the test. You need to study properly for the test and know the history and civics of the country. If there is something in the form that you are not able to understand, you can ask any government officer to help you out. The officials will find the mistakes easily and will not take a minute to reject your application. This is why you need to be careful and fill up the form perfectly and with the correct information. Be careful as you would never want to wait for another three years before you can again give the test.
