Kitchen Unit Doors

If you want to remodel your kitchen but don't want to spend too much money you should consider changing the cupboard doors only, this has the benefit of making your kitchen look as though it was new at a fraction of the expense.

As your kitchen layout is often a result of the shape of your kitchen and because your pipe work and electrical supplies cost money to relocate most people are unlikely to significantly alter the location of the various items that make up the kitchen. As a result of this a fair amount of money can be saved if you leave your existing units in place and just replace the doors.

You don't have to stop at just replacing the doors, if you really want it to look like a total transformation then why not also change the kitchen worktops and the sink and taps, then there will be really no sign of what was there before, unless you open a cupboard door.

There are a couple of ways in which you can go about changing just the doors. Firstly, if your lucky you will be able to find door which fit your kitchen cupboards perfectly, now this isn't as unlikely as it may sound because most kitchen manufacturers make units to standard sizes so you should be in with a shout unless you have awkward kitchen unit sizes. The other option is that you could find a local joiner who could make these doors to size, although this could work out quite a bit more expensive. One further option which you have is to call out a company who specialise in kitchen facelifts, these guys call out, measure your kitchen, show you some samples and get all your doors made to size then they come along and fit them for you.

When selecting worktops there are a few options which you could choose from, first there's the really expensive option of granite, Corian ® or marble, which all look fantastic but will cost you an arm and a leg. You can tile which is a nice alternative, looks really good in a traditional kitchen but has the problem that food mess can get stuck in the grout marks and be quite unhygienic. One further alternative is that you can buy worktops which look just like granite or marble or even woodblock, ok they don't look exactly like these but they are definitely passable and look perfectly fine, they are easy to wipe down and will last for very many years.
