Barnes and Noble will have the "Nook" this year on the market to compete with Amazon's eBook reader, the Kindle 2. So what are the main differences between the two?

1. The first and most noticeable differences between the Nook and Kindle 2 is the fact that the Nook has a color navigation screen. Notice I did not say a color screen, but a navigation screen. The Kindle 2 and the Nook both have gray-scale reading screens that are crystal clear. However the Nook has added a thin screen below that is full color. On this screen you can scroll through the full color book titles, and there are other full color touch functions.
2. Secondly, the Nook will be able to sync with a large amount of other smart devices on the market. This is made possible by the software platform the Nook will run by Google called Android. Developers will be able to create "applications or apps" or the software, and we will soon see how that effects the market.
3. The Nook boasts the capability to be able to lend the books to your friends or family. They will need to have the "app" that allows them to do this on their smart-device, or actually have a Nook as well. The Kindle does not allow you to lend books at this time. It should be noted that while the book is being "lent", it is not accessible to the person who lent it. It can be lent up to 2 weeks.

Otherwise, the Kindle 2 and the Nook are exactly the same price at the moment. They have similar storage capabilities with similar wireless and 3G download capabilities as well.
