Been parenting for awhile and finally I can say it is funny to see you dragging your kids around the store while they cry and holler in their own way. Kids will do just about anything for that thing they want, and you get to deal with all this in front of us fellow shoppers. Each parent has their own way of dealing with these situations, and you can be sure we are all watching as we shop and wait in line.
We parents definitely think it is more amusing to watch you deal with kid stuff than us. Now I've had my share of bad days in the store with kids. I'm not innocent by no means, but, now it is funny to see it from the other side. Might be the toy aisle at Christmas, or a candy rack day after Easter to find a motley group of parents and kids all looking for a score. Prime setting to see the battle of kids screaming, "I want" versus the, all powerful, adult who can say "No!!"
I get such a chuckle seeing those kids screaming and putting up a tantrum. Too many times have I been in your shoes and likely will again with the grandkids. But for now I will take a minute and watch the fun as I shop. How many times would you wish the parent would just answer the nagging child, and then when the parent does, it all starts over.... Or the kids who just run all around, like the store is made for their version, of hide and seek. Bang, bang, bang, one kid shooting another with some toy. My new favorite is the roller skate shoes and the best smashing into people by accident game ever.
If you see me just laughing at you, it is all in good fun. I just think it is hilarious to see the other parents respond in good or bad ways. It is just one big show for us fellow shoppers to enjoy. If you can keep your cool while your child is throwing a huge tantrum we might be impressed or be let down by the lack of antics. For the unlucky parent it really is your moment in the public spotlight.
I find it hilarious and entertaining so while I'm laughing at you, try to laugh with me.
