Do you stress over kids birthday party food? Unless you are having the party during a meal time, it is not necessary to serve food at a kids' party. If you do provide munchies, you want to keep it as easy as possible. Remember, this is not a gathering of food connoisseurs.

It is ok to just serve cake, if you are not having the festivities during lunch or dinner hours. Feel free to add some snacks like chips or ice cream with the cake if you want, but again, it is not necessary. Kids birthday parties should be short, 2-3 hours max, with only 15-30 minutes of that dedicated to any food and cake. The rest of the time is for games, activities and other entertainment. Do have enough drinks available to avoid dehydration, especially if the kids are running, jumping and dancing.

If the party is held during lunch or dinner hours, keep the food straightforward. Consider what your kids enjoy. It may just be pizza, Cheetos and grapes. Your child's birthday celebration is not the right time to try out new foods. Save on plastic utensils by serving finger foods that easy to grasp by little kids. It is always good to offer fruit, but a kids party is not the time for dietary concerns.

Kids birthday party food should be simple. If you are not having the party during lunch or dinner, stick with cake and perhaps ice cream. Save the intricate menus for your adult parties and make the kids party food easy on yourself.
