Kidney Stone Pain Relief Sooner Than You Think

Anyone who has suffered the pain from kidney stones will tell you it is the most excruciating pain ever felt. Just as the feeling of relief that is gained once the stone has passed is one of the most pleasant. There are many causes of kidney stones, the most often one is from not drinking enough fluids, and this includes water. Other causes may be a family history, poor diet, inactivity (not moving about much), climate, some certain types of diseases and even some prescribed medicines.

Most stones develop from concentrated urine minerals that are not flushed out of the body, and these minerals become crystallized and form on the kidney. Left untreated, these crystals are what become the kidney stones that cause us so much pain and suffering. This is one reason you should be drinking plenty of fluids each day.

Being able to find out what caused your kidney stones is very important to being able to prevent more in the future. If your cause was the most common, not enough fluids, then you will need to make sure that you increase your fluid consumption each day. Many people will drink at least 8 glasses of water to prevent more stones from forming. Fluid consumption is very important for many other reasons too, but for now, we'll concentrate on kidney stones.

When you are faced with the pain and discomfort of these stones, you basically have 4 options:

Go to the doctor, have numerous tests run, get a prescription and lay in pain until it passes.
Go to the emergency room, have numerous tests run, either get a prescription and either lie in pain until it passes or get admitted and lie in pain until it passes.
Do nothing and lie in pain at home waiting for things to pass.
Cure them naturally yourself with a couple of items from the grocery store.

If you were in excruciating pain, which option would sound best to you? Painless and least expensive is usually the winner. For the most common sized kidney stones, relief can be as soon as 3 hours away. Most cases will see relief overnight.
