Trout fishing is one of the main hobbies that people around the world take up. It is a world wide pass time that many people enjoy.
The reason many people take up trout fishing is down to these fantastic fish and the challenges they give which makes the pass time an absolute joy to fish for.
Trout is located all around the world, but mainly in North America, Europe and northern Asia.
It is normally a fresh water fish but can also be found out in the ocean too.
Trout will generally come back from the ocean when it needs to hatch its spawn.
They can also be found in salt water too and one of these trout species is the arctic char.
Altogether around the planet there are many different types of trout. Some of these trout can actually be the same trout as another part of the world, with the same name, though there colours and patterns have slightly changed due to the environment they live in.
An example of this is the cutthroat trout. Which has many sub species, some of them are Bonneville cutthroat, lahontan cutthroat, Colorado River cutthroat, and that is just some of them to note.
There is another popular trout, called the brook trout which is part of the same family as the aurora trout. Now these two fish have patterns, colours making themselves look different in many ways, but through genetic analysis this has shown that these two fish are actually the same, the salvelinus fontinalis.
The colours and patterns on the trout are normally down to camouflage as there colours and patterns change slightly depending on which habitat they are in at that time. Silver colour if living in the ocean and speckled markings on the body if they are living in rivers.
Going back to the beginning of the article, yes trout are fantastic fish, they are challenging when we try to catch them. We get a good fight out of them which makes trout fishing what it is today, exciting and rewarding.
There is many different ways to catch trout and many different accessories needed too, like flies and lures for example, but I will go into that at a later date.
