Improving Your Golf Swing With Kettlebell Swings:
By now you may or may not have heard of the ancient kettlebell. This strength and conditioning tool basically resembles a cannonball with a handle attached to it. The kettlebell has been in use now by athletes and strongmen for over three centuries. The thing that makes kettlebell training so unique is that because of it's awkward design you must learn how to properly manipulate movement patterns in order to effectively lift it. There are many lifts that you can perform with it and they all must be done with you having to "feel" the proper pattern and utilize your body in order to perform the lifts.
The swing lift is the most common strength endurance related lift that you can perform with the kettlebell. This lift has many variations, but the most basic involves you swinging a single bell with both arms back and forth from between your legs up to at least chest level. This is a great pattern of motion that is tremendous for helping you to develop core stability, mobility, and overall strength through a dynamic pattern which directly applies to the improvement of your golf swing. If you were looking for way to improve your golf swing then you just found it my friend.
To execute the swing lift you will want to stand with your feet shoulder width apart in length. From here you are going to forcefully and continuously flex and extend your hips in a snapping motion in order to build the necessary momentum in order to swing the bell back and forth. As you do this run down through the checklist of making sure that you keep your abs tight, keep shoulders retracted, to forcefully breathe, and to lock out at the top of each swing repetition. Like the golf swing the kettlebell swing takes practice in order to do it well. This is one of the most effective ways to improve your golf swing power and club head speed if you are serious about your game playing performance.
