Jogging is still the most ideal exercise for most people as it is free and highly beneficial. It burns more calories than walking. And perhaps it is best for overweight people. The following are just some jogging tips helpful especially for beginners. Before engaging in this exercise you have to visit your health care provider, especially if you are overweight or with health problems. Choose a good pair of shoes that is well-cushioned and has enough room for your toes.

Wear jogging apparel that is first and foremost comfortable, functional and practical. It's also important that it makes you look and feel good. Make sure that it does not restrict your movements. Select a high cotton outfits that can absorb sweat well. Keep your arms and legs warm if the climate is cold. Choose a nice place to jog. Avoid hilly terrain and downhill as you can tumble down. Have some warm up and stretching before starting jogging. Then start by walking few hundred. If breathing and heart rate increases to a comfortable level, you can gradually increase the speed to a manageable level. Slow down before you stop but do not stop suddenly. Make sure to do cool down after your routine. It's the same as the warm up.

Keep your body erect and avoid bouncing too much. Lift your front knee and extend the leg. Keep arms close to your body. Swing your arms forward and forth but not across the body. Don't clinch fists. Keep shoulders relaxed and chest out and open. Do not lean forward. Avoid looking at the ground as it can cause problems with upper body posture and lead to upper and neck pain. Keep eyes focused ahead of you with your head lifted. Create a playlist of your favorite music on you iPod or MP3. Music helps relax the mind.
