Many think that it takes an expert to refill an empty toner cartridge. Well, if you intend to replace worn out parts and recondition the cartridge; then you would likely need some training to do that. But recharging a toner cartridge using a toner refill kit doesn't require one to be an expert. In fact, it is even easier than the assembly of knock down furniture.
Remember that there are only 3 major steps pertinent to cartridge refills:
- Opening the Toner Hopper
- Cleaning the Chamber
- Replenishing Toner Supply
Opening the Toner Hopper. Toner powder is stored in a compartment (inside the cartridge) that is referred to as the toner hopper or chamber. Fresh toner supply is injected into the hopper - through a fill hole; which is accessible from the cartridge's exterior. Most cartridges come designed with a fill hole while others require the user to melt a hole into its polymer casing to expose the hopper.
In case of the latter, creating a fill hole would not be difficult to accomplish as specialized tools - particularly the refill tool, are now available with online vendors. Just plug the tool, allow it to heat up and push the heated tip towards the designated point on the cartridge to create the hole.
Cleaning the Chamber. The toner compartment needs to be cleared of toner residues prior to replenishment. Cleaning the chamber can be as simple as emptying the residues on a trash bin or applying suction over the fill hole using a toner vacuum to completely rid the compartment of residues.
Replenishing Toner Supply. The final step to the replenishment process involves recharging the cartridge with new toner supply. To do that, the user will only have to secure a toner refill kit that comes supplied with toner powder compatible to the OEM cartridge being recycled. The kit is bundled with all the materials necessary for the refill. Transferring toner to the cartridge is so easy, even a fifth grader can complete it without any hitches. Once the contents of the bottle has been completely transferred to the cartridge, simply replace the fill plug over the fill hole or seal the hole with an electrical tape.
Learning how to refill empty toner cartridges with toner refill kits will prove to be a worthwhile endeavor for laser printer users. For one, it will allow users to save on laser printing costs since third party consumables such as toner refill kits are cheaper by as much as 80%. Moreover, the act of recycling cartridges is eco-friendly. All these benefits available at your disposal for a mere 5 to 10 minutes of your time!
