Are you wondering whether the world will end in 2012? If you are anything like me you must at least be curious. After some research I found some interesting facts.

The Ancient Mayans were talented astrologers and knew about and observed things that modern science has only recently discovered. They took careful observations regarding the stars and other celestial objects and used this information to foresee or predict future events. They were able to map out detailed future calendars and describe detailed events that actually happened. One of their calendars, referred to as the Long Calender, does end on December 21, 2012.

Nostradamus, the esteemed 16th century alchemist, physician and astrologer has mentioned some type of great disturbance or conflict in the year 2012. Since historians and students of prophecy agree that nearly 50% of his predictions have unfolded as he described, many are looking into his writings to see what exactly might unfold in 2012. He is credited with the accurate predictions of recent events such as both World Wars, the rise and fall of both Hitler and Napoleon, the Twin Towers collapse, and even Barack Obama.

It does seems apparent that something is going to happen in December 2012, but what? That hasn't been made clear. There are all types of speculations regarding the subject such as some type of cosmic event, major volcanic eruptions, numerous large earthquakes and numerous other natural disasters. It's really anybody's guess.

I don't actually believe that the world will end in 2012, but, I do think it is possible that there will be a major event during that time. What effect will it have on us? That's not really clear. Let's certainly hope that it won't have any major effects. The world, and me included, has had to adjust enough with the major shift in world economics. No one really knows what will happen in the next few years.

My plan of action is to keep on researching. I've only begun to touch on the subject and since there seems to be such debate on the subject, I'd rather be over educated and prepared for something major than uneducated and caught of guard.

Let's prepare for the worst while expecting the best and decide not worry. So much of what we worry about never ends up happening. We can put our energy into things we can change right now like, putting a smile on someone's face, stopping into to visit with someone who is homebound or playing ball with a kid.

The topic of 2012 can be a wake-up call to all of us to remind us to live each day as if it were our last. We are never promised tomorrow. We can make a difference in the world today and it starts by reaching out to the person next door. So, don't worry, be happy!
