Is the US an Innovation Nation - A Book Review

Expert Author Lance Winslow

If you are someone who believes in innovation, and the forward progression of the United States of America, then there is a very good book I'd like to recommend that you read. It is a compelling argument, and a persuasive wake-up call to all Americans. The name of the book is;

"Innovation Nation - How America Is Losing Its Innovation Edge, Why It Matters, and What We Can Do to Get Back" by John Kao, Free Press Publishers, 2007, (320 pp); ISBN: 978-141653-268-two

At first, I thought this book might be a doom-and-gloomer's look at the problem with our school system, and the problems with having fewer students seek professions in science and math, and avoid the subject altogether in college, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that John is totally focused on fixing the problem, rather than reiterating what we already know to be a serious challenge in our society and civilization. Most all of the trends that are pointed out in this book have merit, and the author is correct.

It is my belief that John Kao in this excellent book ought to be a wake-up call to America. America is not down and out, we actually have everything going for us and it is just a matter of refocusing our efforts. In fact, I can't think of another nation that has as much innovation as we do, or has as much of an entrepreneurial spirit as our population does.

The author also points out how many other nations around the world are stepping up their research and development initiatives, funding gigantic research and innovation projects, and even teaching innovation in their schools. The reality is that the United States cannot rest on its laurels, and expect to continue if they don't step up to the plate, and fire a few more over the fence. Indeed, it is my sincere hope that you will read this book, and join with me, and others to promote innovation in America. Indeed, I hope you will please consider this.
