Is the Mouse Pad You Use Comfortable?

It's amazing how many millions of people sit at a desk for more than 8 hours a day without even taking one second to consider whether or not they could do something to improve the comfort level that they experience. Ergonomics is something that we will begin to hear a lot more about, as it becomes more and more noticed. It is basically the study of improving equipment and jobs so that repetitive strain injuries are avoided. If you sit at a desk where you are staring down at a monitor all day, the desk is too tall or there are other things that make you uncomfortable then now are the time to do something about it.

It might cost you a few hundred dollars to make the modifications (if it's at work then you should get them to pay for it) but it will save you thousands in the long run. Sitting at a desk for hours on end in a position which is not ergonomic will result in problems with your back later on. It's really not worth the risk. Already, thousands of people have made claims for RSI, which stands for Repetitive Strain Injury. Whether it is muscles in your fingers, problems with your wrists, back, shoulders or something else, you can get RSI from sitting in a poor position for a long period of time.

To start off with, the mouse pad that you use is a tiny item, yet so important. Whilst you might think that it's just a surface for you to use your mouse on, it actually does perform a lot of other tasks. A good mouse pad will support the wrist and hand. Of course, a good mouse pad will make a lot of difference too. Whatever you spend your money on though, make sure that it is going to put your wrists and fingers into a position that is comfortable and easy to perform for hours on end.

You can get Gel Mouse Pads today which are amazingly comfortable, although some people totally hate them. The gel moves around your wrist to provide a supportive cushion, which is a great help for sore wrists. I would highly recommend you get a vertical mouse too, as these make a massive difference to the positioning of your wrist.
