Is a Fishing Rod All You Need? The Top 4 Things to Bring For a Day on the Ice
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

An Ice fishing rod is not the only piece of equipment you need for a day of on the frozen lake. Ice fishing is a time honored tradition passed down from generation to generation in the coldest of climates. If you are an avid fisherman and have a passion for catching your bounty any time of year, then you know what you need for a day out in your ice hut.

If you are just starting out and want to get an idea of the type of equipment you may need, then the information below should help you decide what equipment to bring with you.

Of course you need a fishing pole with line and lure to entice the walleye from the icy water into your bucket. Everyone who has ever fished before understands that a pole is the number one piece of fishing equipment.

Number two on your list should be an ice auger. Without it, you will not be able to get to the water underneath the frozen lake. This tool is used to drill a hole through the surface for your pole to enter the water.

Number three on your list is a sled to carry all of your equipment to the middle of the pond or lake. You can carry your pole and auger, but the rest of the equipment you need will require an easy way to transport it across the crusty surface.

Finally, a folding chair is important to provide comfort throughout the day. You can certainly sit on the ice itself, but it is not like sitting on a river bank in the summer. Keeping your backside warm will make the experience more pleasurable.

In summary, an ice rod is not only thing you need to do some ice fishing. A little preparation will go a long way toward making your day on the ice fun and comfortable.

Ice fishing has long been a way for an avid fisherman to follow his passion no matter what season.

Quality Ice Fishing Rods are an essential part of the gear he will take out onto the ice.
