Saving a marriage is not an easy task; but when you're the only one who is trying to do so (i.e. your spouse wants a divorce but you want to save your marriage), it hurts even more and puts you in a lonely, worse condition. This not only makes you feel worse, but actually is dangerous to your marriage. When you are alone, it's just a matter of time before you go wild with desperation and do wrong things (in the name of saving your marriage) that will harm your marriage even further and will make you regret.

Therefore it's incredibly crucial to keep your calm right now. Yes, your marriage can be ending. Divorce proceedings might even have begun. And yes, this makes you feel horrible. But know that you can save your marriage whatever the situation is. But to be able to do it, you first need to learn how to keep calm in this situation and not give into your emotions. This is absolutely crucial!

The first step to save any marriage is to understand that you need to think before your actions. Sudden reactions (out of grief) that you give out will make everything worse. Remember that marriage is a long-term institution and it can't be cured by knee-jerk reactions you "just give out". You need to consider every action you take. And this needs you to stay calm and retain control over your emotions. This was my first correct step in trying to save my marriage.
