I imagine your goal is to make money online, as is mine along with most marketers. Do you understand why you are not making money online? If I was a betting person I would put my money on the fact that you don't completely understand the difference between a market and a niche.
Shhhh, please don't tell anyone, but I didn't make money online for quite some time. Let me just say it was long enough that most marketers would have given up. Like so many other newbie marketers I was confused between a market and a niche which caused me NOT to make money online for way too long.
All the months that I was spinning my wheels without earning squat changed almost overnight once the fog lifted and my understanding of market and niche became clear. I actually made more money in that first month that I had made in the previous 6 months or longer. I also accomplished this without spending any more money, which really increased my bottom-line.
I went from having dozens of useless web sites to 4 main sites which gave me back my life. I started making money online and actually had spare time to spend some of it with my family.
Now that I have market and niche figured out allow me to clear it up for you so you can start to earn a living on the internet.
What is a MARKET??
I began to understand what a market was when I started picturing hobbies like 'fishing' or 'gardening' as a market instead of a niche. Do this same thing with a topic you have an interest and some knowledge in so you will see it clearly in your mind as I did.
Most of my friends would say I am a bit fanatically about fishing so I will use fishing as my example, you can use whatever is near and dear to your heart.
As a fisher person I was easily able to visualize a large canvas marked 'FISHING' right smack dabb in the middle of my canvas.
With that image planted firmly in my mind I called this my market. Fishing is one of my markets but that wasn't going to earn me any money, it's just too large with too many big players in it. But I have my market, now I need to know what I can make money with and that is my niche or sub-niche.
I took my canvas, with the work 'fishing' in the center and I started adding images that have something to do with fishing. My first image was me fishing for 'bass' using my fly-rod. Well look at that, I have a niche, but it's only the beginning.
I continued to add more images to my canvas, all around the word 'fishing' and in no time I had about a dozen niches, all revolving around the fishing market. This worked so well that I created a real collage about fishing and then started to cut out each image.
I then took a few images, like 'bass fishing' and started another canvas to see what sub-niches I could come up with. It's pretty much endless, the ideas that will make money online, you just have to get it all clear in your mind.
In no time at all I had a niche around bass, trout, salmon and pike. Then I just broke them up into their own canvas' and continued to break them down into smaller niches.
After I had all these potential money making niches I started my Market Research to see how many people are interested in those niches and if they had money.
Note: I love fishing and spend a huge amount of money each year just to enjoy my hobbies and so do my friends, so why not choose a market and niche that you know people spend money on and get your share of that money. Just don't try to grab the broad market.
