Is Lady Gaga a Lady Or is She Just Gaga?

The Lady Gaga phenomenon has taken the world by storm. With countless number one hits all over the world, Lady Gaga is the hottest artist on the planet right now. With her first album going platinum her success seems to have no real end. Pumping out number one after number one means that she's nailed he art of writing hit songs but many argue that Lady Gaga is more Gaga than she is lady.

You cannot help but draw some parallels with Madonna. In her early years Madonna was the picture of rebellion and her strange and sometimes unacceptable outfits and behavior made her the center of attention. As one of the biggest selling artists of her time, Madonna proved all her critics wrong. All the media attention and publicity that her eccentric lifestyle cause was never overshadowed by her real talent.

Much of Lady Gaga's marketing tactics come from Madonna and in the entertainment world its all about media attention.

Regardless of how you get it.

Being eccentric is definitely one way of drawing attention and with Lady Gaga its been working very well. The real question is whether there is something more underneath those eccentric outfits and those bizarre interviews?

Will she stand the test of time and reveal the true artists as she sheds the skin of media hype?

There is a big difference between being a popular artist and being a respected artist and she is definitely walking a tight rope with her persona overshadowing much of her music. It seems like the need for media attention is the determining factor and artistic integrity is used as a scape goat. What is really hiding under all those outfits? Is it a real artists that we will love and admire in 10 years from now or is it just another mediocre singer that manages to get a lot of media hype?
