Is Going to College is a Waste of Time - A Step by Step Guide to Energizing Your Education
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Going to college is a waste of time. That is if you refuse to apply what you learn. Now, before all you college graduates, recruiters, business leaders and parents bombard my website with hate mail, listen to my reasoning. Imagine as a baby you were shown how to walk, given all the help you needed to succeed, granted all the time to do so and you still decided to stay on your diapered butt instead. Now imagine millions of such babies all grown up. Ugly sight huh? Not using your college education immediately is like that baby refusing to take advantage of all the available resources granted.

Throw away the diaper and do something.

If what you learn isn't applied it just become a whole bunch of useless theory. And that would be a waste for you the payer and the authors who thought they were on to something. Besides, what's the use of doing SWOTS or Sunken Cost Analysis, Marketing Surveys, Cost Accounting or Statistics if you are not going to immediately use them. I can see many of Liberal Arts and Psych major candidates shaken their heads in agreement. Whether you are majoring in history of basket weaving, or advanced gym class theory, the best way to apply it it is to start your own business in that field. I know you may be thinking "a business in basket weaving, or advanced gym class theory?" You bet! You can bet somebody is out there making a couple of dollars at it. Why not let that be you in your own LLC (my favorite) or S Corp, (my next favorite). Listen, you chose the degree field so make that degree relevant right away.

Before you crack one book

Before you read your first class syllabus, keep these steps in mind.:

(1) Contact your parent's lawyer and have them help you with the paperwork for forming your entity.

(2) Immediately start start telling your parents and friends what business you have chosen (this makes you accountable).

(3) Gather all relevant material about your degree and start putting together your business's mission statement.

(4) Start making friends with the classmate who have skill sets stronger than your current ones. See if you can barter skills.

(5) Start earning an income immediately by charging non bartered services with other students on campus.

(6) Use and re-use the free services of the college to reduce cost. Every college has things they just give away as a service to you the paying client.

(7) Publish every paper, every article, and every note that you write concerning your degree/ new business (E-zine Articles.com is a great source).

The Big Picture

Imaging the type of interest you will have in your degree now that it has become a means to feed you and all your Frat or Sorority pals. Of course it is easy to see how conflicts about time for studies or hanging out with buds could occur. But, time management skills can help you in those areas. Remember, the big picture is to make a bushel load of cash, keep interested in school and make that degree work for you. In fact, if you like this route better why not hire instead of be hired at the end of four years. Alas, if you prefer to limit your income and potential by working for someone else, at least you'll have experience at completion.

If You Think You Can, Then Of Course You Can

I'm sure by now you have heard many times "If you think it, it will be so." If you haven't then pick up a book by Napoleon Hill. He is the master of making sure you know the fundamentals of positive thought. Every day and in every way you can be as successful as you chose. What makes this so is if you believe. Because I'm so confident this can be accomplished, I will give one free coaching session via my website. Email me and tell me stage you are in right now of your academic pursuit sand we'll get going helping you.

As a Consultant, Author, Business Man and fellow student, I can tell you that these principles work over and over and over. They have for me. And they easily can for you too...
