Is Every Painting a Masterpiece?

Paintings we all know require a fortune to buy and as we are aware their value increases over time. Not any artwork can be termed as a masterpiece. It is very difficult to label an artwork as there are many factors involved in the making of great works. Usually the artists who have given their whole lives for finding and searching techniques and mastering over colours for making good art result in creating masterpieces.

Firstly the artist and their reputation is the most important aspect. How the world knows the artist and how well he has continued in the field of art. Making of good and bold art gives the artwork recognition and makes the artist a regular in the buyers list. Art is the expression of the artist and not all artworks can be termed as masterpieces. Some works of very famous artists have been termed as masterpieces as they have seen the limelight over many, many years. Not all paintings by famous artists become masterpieces. In fact very few that have seen the time and are unique in their presentation enjoy this status. If an artwork has been observed over the years and many critiques have praised it and it has universal appeal. It may not be the most beautiful work of the artist of their life but it takes a special place in the heart of the viewers. Many artists have toiled over the years in search of art and self expression. A painting is an outlet for the artist and represents their identity. It is not easy to term any artwork as a masterpiece. There are many works of famous artists but not all have enjoyed the limelight as a masterpiece. An paintings that has the special factor, something unique...a moment captured or the colour scheme... or the just something special makes the painting a masterpiece.

Any painting that does justice to the label or topic of the painting touches the heart of every viewer. If it gives the viewer an aesthetic experience and the observer is engrossed in the artwork then the artist has achieved the aim of the artwork and it is the happiest moment in their life. Generally a handful of paintings by famous artists are termed as masterpieces and in general it is understood that art over many decades that has been examined and cross examined by critiques and still gives them the challenge of discussion may be a masterpiece. Paintings by new artists also make good buy at reasonable prices and over the time who knows you may end up with a masterpiece!
