Intuition - Improve Yours Four Ways
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Intuition is the philosophical construct of French philosopher, Henri Bergson. He defined intuition as the ability to sense or know immediately without reasoning.

Bergson presented his first paper, "Psychological Origins of the Belief in the Law of Causality," (Sur les origines psychologiques de notre croyance ŕ la loi de causalité) at the First International Congress of Philosophy held in Paris, August 1-5, 1900. He defined metaphysics as the science that dispenses with symbols to grasp the absolute. Thus, Bergson was the first to declare metaphysics encompasses an inversion of the habitual modes of thought and is in need of its own method, which he identified as intuition.

Improving your intuitive ability will strengthen your interactions and create more peace of mind.

• Intuition lives in your body, thus the expression, listen to your gut, or gut feeling. Pay attention to what your body is telling you. Your body is the first place that your intuition manifests. Learn to trust your unique body signals.

• Practice your intuitive skills doing something you love. Intuition follows love. The musician has intuition about music, the athlete, about his/her sport. Your intuition dwells where your passion dwells.

• Intuition is everywhere and communicates to you through symbols, dreams and experiences-positive, negative or neutral. Learn to look, listen and trust the messages.

• Allow your intuition to evolve 'organically.' Organize your day with a 'To Do,' list and ask yourself, "What needs to occur today?" Do the task that comes to mind first. Work on the task until it is finished or you no longer want to be doing it. Then, go back to your 'To Do' list and ask again, "What needs to occur today?" Use this method for a week. Many people report they are surprisingly relaxed and rested at the end of the day - and that everything that needed to be done, got done.

You may not feel comfortable relying entirely on your intuition, however, you can allow yourself to tap into the knowledge it gives you that has meaning beyond the words you hear and open your heart to people at a deeper level. When you use your intuition you are more approachable and present with others, and this makes all of your interactions richer and more rewarding. By connecting with your intuition your openness and understanding helps your relationships flourish.
