There are many people out there that will give you advice on when you should switch your baby to solid foods. You will get lots of contradiction from various people like friends and family and they will tell you that you should start to feed your baby solids from two months, but the age can actually vary. Many healthcare professionals will recommend that their first solid foods you should give your child are rice cereals and you should start giving them to your baby around four months old. If you are breast-feeding exclusively you can actually start your baby on these rice cereals when they are about six months old.
The rice cereals allow your baby to start getting any nutritional base of carbohydrates they also contain fortified with iron, which I'm sure you are aware is very important in the brain development of your baby. They will also find that they are nice and easy to digest some people will also mix them with milk so that they still get their favor from what they had been used to drinking. Every child will differ and it's a matter of trial and testing to see how they like to eat it.
It will take your baby time to adjust to the texture of a rice cereal. It's really a matter of simply slowly introducing the cereal so they get the feeling of the texture and taste in their mouth. Before your child reaches around seven months you can start to introduce some fruit puree this is something that many children like this sweet taste of and you need to make sure that you feed them this in small portions. Sometimes some children will not take the field Wednesday have tasted the fruit puree because they simply like the flavor and texture and sweetness and their mouth.
Always remember that every child is different and just because they are four months old was not mean that they will take to solid foods immediately. As we have said already some children may start earlier and you will be able to judge this yourself. Some children of course our late developers and will not want to touch any solid food for weeks or months after this. It's really a matter of testing and by trying some on a spoon and switching your baby's lips to see if they like the flavor. Start with very small amounts of a small spoon and put it to their mouth they will of course try and taste you should be able to gauge by their reaction whether they like this are not. You sometimes have to be persistent and keep trying until they eventually takes to not let them take control you need to make sure that you continue trying until they finally start to take some solid foods.
