Integrating Videos Into Your Internet Marketing Strategy

Expert Author Anthony Chatfield

Just about everyone is aware of the rise and popularity of YouTube. But did you ever think about using YouTube as a part of your internet marketing strategy? That's right, practical jokes and silly animal tricks aren't the only videos that will get attention and generate traffic online. In our increasingly visual culture, there are simply a lot of people who won't read your blog or your website content. But they will watch a video about your company and services.

Types of Videos

That doesn't mean they'll watch just any video, though. Just like with any other internet marketing tool, you want to tailor your video specifically so that it appeals to your target market and, more specifically, what they're likely to search for online. For instance, if you want to impress your customers with your overall mastery of a topic, you can make a video to demonstrate that. On the other hand, you may choose to highlight a specific product or service you offer in a video if you're trying to appeal to a different type of customer.

Have Some Fun

Videos can be a lot of fun to make and to watch. They give you a lot of different types of opportunities to catch the attention of your customers and make a positive, lasting impression. The more impressive your video is, the better the chances you'll be able to turn your viewers into customers. In order to do that, though, you'll need to incorporate a few different elements into your video.

First, you'll want to come up with a theme for your video. If you don't decide on a theme before you begin putting your video together, you're likely to have a much harder time coming away with a cohesive and influential product. This also means that you may have some great ideas along the way that need to be left out of the video because they just don't fit with the theme. You need to be able to let go of these types of ideas, although you can always file them away for a future production.

You also want your personality to come through in your video as much as possible without taking away from the theme and overall message. The addition of this type of personal touch can turn what would have been a generic and boring blurb into a viral masterpiece. This not only helps to make your video more memorable, but it also allows your viewers to make more of a personal connection with you. And once they do that, they'll have much more confidence in anything you're trying to sell them.

Traps to Avoid

You can also make a pretty bad impression with a video, though. The last thing you want is to turn off potential customers with a poorly put together or unprofessional video. This can make a bad initial impression and that's not going to get people coming back to your site anytime soon. Also, even if your video appears professional in every way, it can still be boring, and that's not going to get you too many customers either.
