Instructional Guitar Books - 2 Important Types of Books and What You Can Learn
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

It's a wide world and it's full of those ancient collections of paper called books. Yea, the internet has been around for awhile and there's tons of knowledge floating around in cyber space, but instructional guitar books are where it all began.

I think the appeal of owning a book versus viewing knowledge on the web is that books can go just about anywhere. So, for those of you willing to crack open a volume, here are two very important types of guitar books and why you should be gathering them up.

1. Music Tab Books

Music tab books are absolutely great for learning just about any hit song that you've heard before. What makes these instructional guitar books better than online tab sites, is the fact that they were published by a professional publishing company and contain real musical notation if you decide to do away with the guitar tablature.

So what makes music tab books so cool?

* The songs are almost exactly the way the artists played them.

Most of these guitar tab books gather the information from the artists themselves on exactly how they play their tunes. However, sometimes the artists are too busy to work with the publishing companies and they hire guitar professionals who are masters at creating musical notation from listening to music.

Yea, they're that good.

* You can learn the artist's stylistic features.

By studying music exactly the way an artist has played it, you learn more than just the notes, but the style the artist stands for. Tab sites on the web are great for giving you the bare minimum of notes and rhythms, but instructional guitar books provide all the subtleties of the music that you probably can't find on the internet.

2. Skill Books

Now, if you're not quite ready for songs and tunes, or you think you need another lesson in technique, skill books are your way to go. Veteran guitarists are out there to try and make a buck or two from their skills, but in the process, you get to acquire their knowledge and learn how they became so amazingly great.

Here are a couple benefits of owning a guitar skill book:

* Improve on one or multiple skills.

If you're thinking about playing faster on the guitar, I'm sure there's an instructional guitar book out there for that. Even if you had the idea of playing faster all under the metal genre, there's most likely a book that covers all of the techniques involved in playing metal guitar along with any other genre you might desire to learn.

* There are usually plenty of photographs and diagrams.

One of the assumptions of those who despise books is usually that books only contain words, but that's just false. The authors of any guitar books know that the best way for a reader to learn is with plenty of photographs and diagrams to accompany their words and that's just what they provide.

Just about anything can be found on the internet, so it's easy to forget how books paved the way for the communication of knowledge and information. Whether it's music tabs or new skills, pick up an instructional guitar book for yourself and start bettering your technique without a blaring computer monitor.
