Who said decorating your home had to expensive? You can get creative and easily add warmth and brightness to your home without spending much money. By tastefully decorating your walls with art, you can keep your home from looking drab. The art you hang on your walls will often be the first impression visitors have of you. For the bargain hunting home decorator there are plenty of ways to get beautiful art on your walls.

With auction sites and online super stores, you can find cheap quality art that only costs a few dollars. Canvas photos can feature abstract art, landmarks, famous people, sunsets, mountains, beaches reproductions of famous artwork and botanical themed art. You can also experiment with different styles. Black and white art pieces in black frames can be beautiful in the living room.

Go with different sized frames and use contrasting colors in each frame to create a focal piece for the room. Contemporary and antique looking frames can be found at most retail stores for cheap. Jewel crusted frames will also work on the wall but they can be overpowering. Placing jewel frames on desks and coffee tables might be a more tasteful option. If you have a digital camera, you can take pictures of family milestones such as birthday parties, graduations, vacations and other memories you value. After printing and framing pictures, you can create a memory wall to accent a hallway in your home.

Wall art isn't limited to pictures however. A modern wall art feature is to group sets of different sized mirrors together or hang metal art pieces. With art, having a limited budget just means you can get even more creative. Simply go through your attic and junk drawers for inspiration. Old family quilts, wrapping paper, bits of lace and baby mementos are easy to frame or hang, look great on the wall and carry lots of family history. Thrift stores, dollar stores and yard sales all offer quality art for only a few dollars.

For the truly thrifty, you and the entire family can make wall art. Let your imagination flow by painting a canvas for your wall. If you have no drawing skills simply go with random lines and shapes in different colors to create an abstract art piece. By deciding on which room to hang the art before you start painting, it will be easier to create a cohesive design.

For children simply give them a pack of crayons and tell them to have fun! Children will love looking up at the walls and seeing something they created. After you frame the picture, you will forever have a unique piece of personal art in the home. Crayon rubbings are another fun of using crayons to create pretty wall hangings. To make crayon rubbings simply tear off the paper from a crayon and roll the crayon on its side over a piece of paper lying on top of a textured item. Leaves and geometric shapes make interesting designs, you can frame the entire rubbing or use it as a background on other pictures.

Sheila Dollarsby doesn't always spend a lot of money on art for her home. Instead she buy her kids crayons from Crayola and allows them to make art that she can frame. Not only are Crayola crayons fun to use, but they are really inexpensive too.
