Industry Problems at Network Marketing Firms and Why You Are Failing

Expert Author Stephen A Chappell

This article is not all about the positives of working in the Network Marketing industry field. You know the basics, getting to be your own boss, unlimited income potential and not having to clock in every day to report to work. A lot of entrepreneur type people just don't want to hear about gossip stories every morning when they report to work and they don't want to deal with politics at work just to get a head in their job. They want to make money and these entrepreneur type people want something different and they venture off to learn about the network marketing industry.

In my last twenty years I have seen so many employees are so dissatisfied with their current job. They wish they could be somewhere else and be happy. You know life is just too short and to be miserable about your job is no fun either. You know you are worth more than what you are getting paid. So exploring the idea of network marketing intrigues you This is because you have heard the stories of how many people are doing well and the freedom to be your own boss. Hence this where the problems begin!

Networking Marketing Problems begin now!

Because you have been so frustrated with your current job, you are looking for any Network marketing firm to join. Most people will join the first company they talk to because they want out of their current job. But that is not possible right away, because it will take time to make money. Check out the earnings disclosures from these firms and you will see very little percent of people making big money. You will find that most great firms will disclose this on their website. The ones that are making lots of the money at the current firm are the ones that have been there for a while. There will always be exceptions to the rule of course. One of your goals is that this part-time job you are wanting to do will be able to replace your full- time job. You are hoping that you will make more part-time than what your full- time job is paying. That is a good old Jim Rohn quote..

Tip #1

Before you decide to join any Network Marketing firm, please look at all the network marketing firms that are available. You can Google search for MLM rankings to help find your passion. You need to believe in the product or service that you want to offer to your new clients. You will be doom for failure if you do not believe in the product or service. As for me I'm just not into selling soap, TV's, or juices. Even though I use soap and watch TV and drink juice everyday it is not for me, but for others or for you, it might be a great network marketing firm for you. So take your time and review the firms before you start. Also just because your friend is using a certain network marketing firm, does not mean it for you.

What the Network Marketing firm wants you do first does not mean success for you.

Once you sign up with a network marketing firm, one of the first items they want you to do is make a list of "Who do you know" of friends, family etc. Its suppose to be a fast start to success. They call these people your warm market leads. Granted a lot of people do well with this approach of nagging or pestering their friends and family. I know I hit a nerve on some of you reading this, because you believe in your product and you do a great job of branding your new network marketing firm and people just sign up! Ok, you might do well for a while until the list is dried up. Then what do you do? Since the company wanted you to have a fast start of calling all of these family and friends, you forgot about the basics of running a business. Yes this is a business and most of you whom signed up to get into network marketing did not realize that you are going to be running a small business and you do not have any experience in running a business. So this could be another reason why people fail in this business. However the network marketing company knows this is a number game as well. They calculate, if 100 distributors join up and if 30 people make it, that is great business for them. However you do not want to be part of the 70 whom did not make it. Now ask yourself, how are your friends and family going to like you now! I just don't like small probabilities of success against me. So you to need to have a platform that helps you with offline and online success in this business.

Tip #2

Look for a system that is not directly affiliated with your current network marketing firm that will help you grow your business. Most network marketing firms are not great in marketing a business plan for you. If so, why do all the top producers at these firms have their own marketing system that they purchased on their own to grow their business! So you need a platform where the most successful leaders in the industry help you in your business. These platforms will help you set up your Face book fan page, blog, and website and show you how to get leads to come to you. You want to be the "hunted" not the "hunter " in network marketing. You can visit my other blog page for suggestions. However these platforms have some problems on their own as well, even though they are great helping you.

Tip # 3

Promoting the Network Marketing firm, instead of you may hurt your business!

Don't get in a trap of promoting the "Network Marketing Firm". This is a rookie mistake. You need to promote yourself and the value added service that you bring to the table as a leader. If you feel you do not have leadership traits, you need to find the nearest leader in the company and visit them and ask them what made them successful. My leader is Ray Higdonand is one of the smartest network marketing people in the industry and whom has answer every question that I have ask him and he is over 700 miles away from me. So think global help, it does not need to be local.

If you promote the company all the time or you do all your marketing by branding the company on how great it is; what are you going to do if something bad or goes wrong with the company. Then you are faced of putting out fires. Or suppose you want to go to another competitor because you feel that product is better than what you are offering. So since you have to go back to your existing clients because of the change, you start to lose some credibility. So don't brand the company all the time, only when it helps you gain a new client

Be aware of whom the network marketing firm promotes the most as the leader!

Yes I have seen this several times in network marketing firms. The firm tells you that "Leroy" is one of their top producers and he has only been with the firm for only one year. So you are saying, Wow, if he can make that much money in a year, then there is a lot of hope that I can do the same. What the network marketing firm does not tell you; is that this person had 10 years of experience in the network marketing business prior to joining the firm and he just had most of his distributors from his prior firm to come with him to this new network marketing firm. Now you just figure out how this person became so great so fast. This is why I want earnings disclosures and that firms must disclose a person experience.

Talking about the Product at first is doom for failure!

Wow, what do you mean talking about my great product to someone is the wrong thing to do at first! Yes, I know that is what your network marketing company wants you to do. But it is wrong thing to do! Remember, the company know it's a numbers game. If 30 distributors make it, the company has done great. Thirty percent is real good in corporate America, a baseball player batting 300, makes $4 million a year. I'm more concern about the 70 whom do not make it! The secret to your success has nothing to do about the product at the beginning. Your success is determine on how much you listen to another person problems and why they are wanting a part- time job. Based on your listening skills, you will find out why another person needs a part-time or side project to make extra money. Only then you will be able to be valuable to that person and for them wanting to listen for your advice going forward. So if a person is really serious about getting in the networking industry and wanting me to help solve the problems(need to save more, vacation, college education savings), then I will send some information through email(links of information) or by mail. Once they had time to review, I will follow- up in a couple of days. I never talk about my product at all in the first meeting, most rookies right away will do product pushing. Yes you can have some success, but it probably cannot be duplicated by other people whom you want to train as some of your new sponsors. You want to make sure from your first approach to the end, that whatever your new potential sponsor person will be, can duplicate everything that you did. If they feel like it's hard to do, your success rate goes down. Its got to be simple so others can duplicated easy.

Tip # 4

Not telling you the basic structure of online marketing!

Indeed it takes a lot of time setting up a blog, fan page, and website. Just learning how to do it or getting someone else to do it for you takes time, especially if you are still working full- time. I know I probably had over 100 hours getting those items set up. But this will pay off in the long run. If a network marketing firm told you all of these items that needs to be done before you get started. You would never sign up. They know that, but the company makes money when you sell products, not setting up your foundation of long-term success. So before getting started in the network marketing industry, get your foundation almost completed. You can sell products later. So get your basic's done first. Remember the company is almost wanting you to do a 5k running event the next day and you can't even run 50 yards fast.

Tip #5

If the only support you get is to fill out a support ticket! Fire the Firm!

If your network marketing firm or your marketing support product that you purchase; only helps you by making you fill out a support ticket to get your answer, I would let them go. Even though this is a network marketing business, it's still a people business. I get so frustrated at services where they make you fill out a support ticket to get your answer to your question. Especially after you just paid ClickBank or PayPal $100 for a product. I know they are trying to make things streamline, so they can be at a resort soaking up the sun. Those soaking up the sun or always traveling is probably the reason why so much of video training support is outdated most of the time. In fact I get solicitations from emails from people trying to sell their products and they are talking about 2009 results and the links and the education provided does not work cause of changes made in technology. I see some are not managing their own resources, but they want you to buy their outdated products all the time. I got a e-mail the other day, stating "New articles just release to help grow your online marketing business", when I went to the site, the articles were released in May of 2011. Wow 8 months old, trying to sell them as new releases. This is the surest way of losing credibility and retention of new clients.

There are many other items to address that network marketing companies don't tell you at first and you will need to seek out wise people in the industry to help you succeed. Look for masterminded circles and guru's in the industry.
