There are a number of reasons why anyone might like to sell on eBay. Some people just want to get rid of some of the junk out of their loft or attic. Some other people just want to make some extra money to supplement your income. Either way you will be looking for useful tips which can be used to increase your eBay income and make sure that you earn as much money as possible.
If you are interested in increasing your eBay income then there are quite a few things that you can do.
Complementary products
You should make sure that you list complementary products at the same time. For example if you are selling computers then you might also want to list computer accessories such as mice and keyboards. Buyers really like the ability to purchase more than one thing from you and benefit from a reduced postage cost. This is a great way to increase your eBay income because you don't need to spend any more and you still sell two or more items.
Bundle
If you made a mistake and purchased something that people simply aren't buying then get rid of it by bundling it with another more desirable product. This is a very well known technique but works very well. People also love something for nothing so you might find that even though it's not as desirable the second item sweetens the deal. If you put two cheaper items in the same auction then it's more likely that they will receive bids because the postage per item will be lower than if they were listed individually.
Seasons
If you want to make your eBay income as large as possible then you need to bear in mind the seasons. Make sure that you never sell warm clothing during the summer when it will be cheaper for example. You should make sure that you stock and keep Christmas items until people are preparing for Christmas, but make sure you sell them as quickly as possible so they get there in time for Christmas.
Profit margins
You need to concentrate on making your money work in the most efficient way possible. Let's say that you made a £5 profit on item A, but a £20 profit on item B. Your money would be invested more efficiently if you invest in item B because of the higher profit margin.
You should also factor in your time into the equation. If you are selling low profit items then bear in mind that you will have to sell a greater quantity of these. This will mean that you have to spend longer packing and posting each individual item. Selling a few products with a high profit margin rather than lots of cheaper products will save you a lot of time in the long run.
Mailing List
It's a good idea if you draw up a mailing list of some of your previous customers. You can then use an auto responder on the internet to automatically fire emails off to all of these people advertising your latest offers. Just make sure you get their permission otherwise it will be seen as spam.
Customer is always right
When trying to increase your income from eBay it is important to treat your customers well. Make sure that every customer has a good experience so that you can benefit from word of mouth. If a customer does have any problems with your products then go out of your way to sort it out.
