A concrete example of this is if you are applying for a job. Of course before you are accepted, you have to pass the interview. This is the crucial part when you apply for work. Because this is the final judgment stage whether or not you will be hired, you have to show them your best shot. And the most important skill you need for this is your communication skills. The interviewer will assess you based on how good you communicate with other people, may it be verbal or written. Hence, being able to speak to a person or group of individuals is really imperative to everyone.

This is basically why other smart people are overpowered or defeated by individuals who are good in public speaking. Even if they are packed with intelligence but they are poor in communicating to the public, it is still not enough to put them on the top. It is very essential to know how to express what you think and feel for the people around you. Thus, if you have a difficulty in composing yourself to face them then you can not step up for yourself.

Public speaking skills are not only good for telling something to a large crowd. Keep in mind that your skills in communication and public speaking are related to each other and thus if you conquer your fear of speaking in public you will also enhance your interpersonal communication skills with other people.
