Dirty Tactic - Saving Time
The biggest lie for all of us NEWBIES is "all it takes is 3 hours a day and by the end of the Month you'll be making 3 to 5 hundred dollars a month or even a week.
It's a full time job! Not everyone can do it! There is no foolproof method!
There is no "lazy way to get rich quick" anything out there. They make it sound easy. They say,"If a housewife from Idaho can do it, then any one can do it."
How many E-Mails start out with "Find out how Betty went from being almost bankrupt to making 6 figures a month on autopilot" or "This system makes me at least $171,168.06 per month!....and you can start using it 15 minutes from now!" or this one "stay at home mom retires in only 48 hours!" The last one is my favorite, if she is a STAY AT HOME MOM, what did she retire from....her kids? Give me and anyone else with half a brain a break. The unfortunate part of this is that this sort of marketing works. People go for it. They want to believe that they can have the same success.
When you click the link, they show you a screen shot of Betty's account. The sales letter is so long you need to pack a lunch to read it. It promises you all the riches you've ever dreamed of, over and over again. It gets so repetitive, that I always skip to the bottom where they tell you what a sweet deal you're getting.
Dirty Tactic - The Guarantee
Then there's the guarantee, the "NO RISK 100% of your money back if this doesn't work for you!" or "Guaranteed to work, even if you're unmotivated!" WOW! Who could resist that? It makes it sound as if the Guru is taking all the risk. Makes me feel better, how about you?
Dirty Tactic - Beware of Special Pop up Discounts:
My favorite part of these sales pages is, when you decide it's not for you and you try to close the page, something truly miraculous happens. A pop up appears and all of a sudden, you get offered a special discount, just this once and you'll never see this page ever again if you turn it down. Compelling stuff!
Sometimes they chop a hundred bucks off to make it more affordable, but sometimes their special offer is exactly the same as the first, except now you are on the check out page and they word it slightly different. It still turns out to be the exact same price as the first offer, just worded slightly different.
I saw one sales page recently, that did just that, but they went a step further. I found this particularly slimy. At the bottom of this offer it said, and I quote, "You pay a onetime payment of $4.97 today." Good deal, right? Then below that in slightly smaller writing was "Then in 7 days you will be billed for one more payment of $42.03........and that's it." WOW! Only two ONE-TIME PAYMENTS! They are counting on people seeing the small fee and jumping on the offer without fully reading the rest and I'm sure this works on occasion. Like I said before, SLIMY!
Dirty Tactic - Testimonials
I'm not interested in those testimonials that litter the page; they may or may not be real. I prefer to make up my own mind. Besides, are there ever any of them that are unhappy with the product? They're all pretty one sided.
Dirty Tactic - Watch out for those high-priced "mentoring programs."
Now, a true mentor, if he's a good one, can talk you through the process of what you are trying to accomplish, but others just take you through the motions, go here, do this, not really giving you that little missing piece of information you really need. I'm not saying he should do the work for you. Of course you need to do the work involved for yourself, that's how learning happens. It's just not easy, no matter what THEY tell you. I think that the gurus all know that if everyone that bought their program and was as successful as they were, it would surely affect their bottom line, and so they may often hold back.
