Cell phone numbers are private information and you will not be able to identify or trace any cell phone number to the owner using a free reverse phone look-up unless the number was previously a land-line based phone number and was recently ported over to a cellular carrier.
The reason cellular phone numbers are protected by privacy laws, I have no idea. Probably because so much information is already available about you that anyone can find with ease, it's probably best to start protecting what we can.
The truth is that any time you have shared your phone number with any company; large or small, I can guarantee your information was sold to the highest bidder.
It's actually not as evil as I make it seem, but many larger companies usually own smaller companies which they share customer information between as well as other companies that can offer and even trade.
So it's most likely that if you subscribed to a magazine, filled out a survey, or paid bills online through some third-party service, your information and possibly cell phone number has been traded down through the list and ended up in a reverse cell phone lookup.
Now that you know the real deal, you can use this information as a tool and not a crutch. Now you know what to do if you need to identify a cellular, unlisted or other private phone numbers or other unidentified callers.
To remove your phone number, name and address from any private reverse cell phone directory, you will have to get access to it first to see if it exists and request that your information be removed. This is not always as easy when dealing with public phone and record sites such as the White Pages.
