Ideas For Team Building Activities

Newly recruited employees, need an ice breaker? Tired old employees, need some refreshment? Well all boils down to the same thing: Team building game!! Team buildings games are great for inducing interaction between new blood and the experienced blood. Here are some good team building ideas:

Outdoor Adventure

If you don't believe, we can't help it, but canoeing, kayaking, go-karting, rope climbing and paintballing are team building games! These involve pooling of ideas, co-ordination, planning and supporting each other. If you want to have something within the office premises, you might want to try games such as basketball, football, cricket or activities such as treasure hunt.

Instead of having outdoor adventure games, you could try engaging your employees in other sorts of team building activities like quizzes on each other, talent show, lower the helium stick,

Indoor Interactions

Indoor games like jigsaw puzzle and 10-pin bowling, guessing games can be a good foundation for interactions and can help in initiating problem solving skills. Or you could get innovative and try some new type of games that involves every type of management skill.

Another type of interaction is conducting a fun interactive workshop involving exercises, questionnaires and lively activities like Johari window, SWOT analysis. These can be carried out by professionals. The workshop will be a great way to learn the fun way.

Total Team Games

Here is a comprehensive list of games for team building:

  1. Human knot. One or two tight human circle. The circle has to get untangled without letting go of others' hands. All the members can do it use their right hand to grasp the other member's right hand and left hand to grasp the left hand.
  2. Blind polygon. Blindfold every team member. Give each of them ropes and ask them to form some geometric shape, all while they are blindfolded. Increase the difficulty by asking them not to talk or discuss!
  3. Penny for your thoughts. Give every participant a bag full of pennies (equal to the number of participants. 10 pennies each for 10 participants). Their task it to trade pennies for one good thought about the other. The activity ends when every penny has been spent only to gain new pennies form others.
  4. Gnome Dome. Give the team members gum drops and tooth picks and ask them to build a dome out of it. Improves creative thinking and co-ordination among members.

Team building games can be fun way to learn each other's strength and weaknesses. This also paves away to positive flow of creative energy. Such events must be a regular part of any work place. It gives everybody a break and an opportunity to show their skills. Learn and build a team the fun way!
