Ice Fountains - Safe, Clean and Beautiful Fireworks for Indoors Or Outdoors

Ice fountains are pyrotechnics that are propped on the ground and when lit, spew out sparkling mini-geysers of light. Its display may be consistently one color or a succession of colors, the first one merging into the next.

This type of fireworks display is similar to that which is produced by aerial repeaters except that they, like all fountain fireworks, only have one tube out of which the shower of sparkles is emitted. Repeaters contain multiple tubes, each one containing a different pyrotechnic routine. Each time the lighted fuse reaches a tube, the effects are propelled into the air.

Why is it called an ice fountain

We may be tempted to think that 'ice' refers to the fountain emitting white sparkles all the time. But that is not the case, some of them emit blues and reds and yellows and greens or combustion's of different colors. So why are they called ice fountains? That is very probably because the flame which they produce is what is known as 'cool flame.'

This type of flame is what we meet with when we bathe a $10 bill in alcohol and try to burn the bill. The flame is pale blue. Take time to notice the color of the flame at the base of the glittering shower emitted from an ice fountain. It seems to be pale blue in color too.

Cool flames reach temperatures of below 400 degrees. They do not produce as much heat and light as normal fire does. Neither do they emit appreciable amounts of smoke or carbon dioxide.

And since those are exactly the characteristics of ice fountains that have made millions of people use them as candles for birthday and wedding cakes, we can reasonably conclude that we have indeed found the derivation of the name 'ice fountain.'

Ice fountains are safe to use

Because they do not produce CO2 and smoke in noticeable amounts, these pyrotechnics are as green as you can get in that industry. They can be used safely inside the house. Their low heat makes them less hazardous for fires. Because they produce no smoke and carbon dioxide, they may be safely approached without fear of getting some lung disease.

A rich variety of displays

People who design ice fountains have been very diligent in inventing light displays. The spray of sparkling color may also be shaped like jets of stars. There are larger fountains that actually resemble fountains of cool water. In other words, these pyrotechnics are not just good as birthday candles but as independent pyrotechnics displays in their own right.

It may even lighten your mood at home to just watch the streams of sparkling light come rushing out from them. As was said, they won't damage the eyes because of intense light and heat. You may even light them on the table beside you just to brighten your mood.
