IBS Self Help - What Can You Do If You Have Symptoms of IBS?

We all have problems with out digestion from time to time. This is normal and no reason for concerns. When the problems do not go away or come back again and again then you may have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I have a long history of IBS. I often feel bloated and constipated.

One day I decided to try a laxative. It was not the best idea I had. The problems got only bigger. I went to the physician therefore and he gave me Metamucil. It also did not really help well. Later I found out why. It is a fiber supplement and as such a good idea but this one can cause gas and bloating which are my main problems anyway. It is better to get a pure fiber supplement.

There are a lot of reasons for abdominal pain. Really many. If you have it then it is impossible to find out what it is by self diagnosing. IBS has become pretty 'popular' and everybody with a constipation today believes to have IBS.

There is no way around going to a physician when the problems do not go away. Do not try to cure yourself with so called home remedies. A proper and correct diagnosis is important. It can be so many other things.

Once you are really diagnosed with IBS then a good fiber supplement should help. Also some hot peppermint teas. It can really help to ease the common symptoms like diarrhea, bloating, constipation and gas pain.

A gastroenterologist is the best person to help you. Sometimes taking a pill solves the problem but you may also have to change your diet or lifestyle to get rid of all problems.
