Hugs—A Health Food

Hugging is a miracle. Hugging is all natural; it is organic, naturally sweet, no pesticides, non-fattening, no carbohydrates, no preservatives, no artificial or genetically engineered ingredients, and 100% wholesome.

Hugging is virtually perfect. There are no batteries to wear out, no periodic checkups, low energy consumption, high energy yield, inflation-proof, no monthly payments, no insurance requirements, theft-proof, non-taxable, non-polluting, money back guarantee can be included and last, but not least fully returnable.

There are fourteen different types of hugs:

• Side-to-thigh

• Back-to-front

• Shoulder to shoulder

• Bear

• Cheek

• Custom-tailored

• Grabber-squeezer

• Group

• Guess who

• Heart-to-heart

• Sandwich

• Side-to-side

• Top-of-the-head

• Spoon

Each of these basic hug types has many variations.

Virginia Satir, family therapist, through research has concluded: “We need four hugs a day for survival. We need eight hugs a day for maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for growth.”

Many spiritual gurus, such as Mata Amritanandmayi, hug their disciples a lot, perhaps to pass on the divine energy.

Many people feel embarrassed or uncomfortable when hugged, but Satir advice is to still to offer hugs because they are bound to feel good afterwards and may even feel grateful to you. When you feel the need to be hugged, ask for one. Any place is good enough for hugging: home, office, school, church, a party, a conference. See my article—I Give Hugs (http://ezinearticles.com/?I-Give-Hugs&id=343721). You may feel uncomfortable hugging, for example, at work. In that case, a more intimate environment, such as at home with friends or at a party fits your style.

If not twelve, have your had eight hugs today?
