Since orchids are among the kinds of flowers that can be quite challenging to keep alive and healthy, and it is essential that you know what you are doing when caring for them. People who care for these kinds of plants should be in the know regarding how to care for them such as the proper watering for orchids, for example. Also they should learn about orchids stem and orchids roots to be able to nourish it very well.
Improper watering is probably the reason why many beginning enthusiasts find themselves with shriveled, rotting or dying orchids. This is the reason why we have decided to devote a special section on proper watering to ensure that your own orchids will not succumb to improper watering.
Just like other plants, orchid's roots also need water so that it won't start wilting. In fact, it does need quite an amount of water. While other plants are simply just watered at the pots, orchids may be sprayed or dampened, as well too.
As a rule of thumb, when it comes to watering orchids, watering it in the pot daily is recommended but it must only be up to 3 inches high. And note that spraying is only done with a rising temperature.
As with any other plants, remember to water your orchids once or twice a week. If you feel that the environment is warmer than usual, you can also increase the number of times that you water them. Just, make sure that the water is drained completely from the pot.
Now, if you are just starting with some seedlings, do note that the orchid's roots must be kept damp. Note that it should be damp, and not soggy. So if the pot is flooded with water that's not a good sign -- especially if it doesn't dry out in a week. That will have rotted off the orchid's roots. So if you are just a beginner, do not have so many seedlings all at once. Taking care of just one will be quite a handful already.
