How to Teach Respect to Your Child - Part 2

Parents are always looking for ways to instill good values in their child. Respect is one of the most fundamental core values that will take many years to instill in children. The aim of this article is to provide parents with a variety of ways to approach this topic.
Teach children About Themselves.
In order for children to have respect for others they must have a true sense of respect for themselves. As children do a variety of projects regarding their cultural heritage or background the child thinking about his/her own physical characteristics (hair color, eye color, facial features, skin tone, body type, etc.) and the child can start to recognize the appreciate what the child's own uniqueness.
Teach Children About Others
As much as different cultures are different from one another, is as much as they are the same. Teaching children how to respect and honor other cultures and religions is extremely important. There are some many different ways to live successfully in this world, and no one group does everything the same. Many times one culture can learn things from other cultures. After all, we are all humans living on this planet together.
Teach respect for life.
Teaching children to have respect for all living things is a great way to instill respect. One of the best ways to teach this skill to children is to have them take care of different pets (fish, hamster, cats, dogs, etc). For learning how to care for another living animal will great increase the amount of respect that the child has for all living things living on earth with humans.
In conclusion, these few strategies above will help your child start to foster respect towards his/herself, as well as others. Always remember to model these behaviors, you children will definitely follow your lead
