How to stop a slice in your golf swing using a baseball bat. Ok are we playing baseball here or golf? Don't panic this works, I've practiced this drill many times myself.
So is your game in decline with the dreaded slice? Would you like me to show you how to enjoy your game once more?
Ok, so how to stop a slice using a baseball bat! It's ok, we can use our driver here, there's no need to rush out and buy a baseball bat!
The Objective...
It's quite a simple tip we are using here - we're trying to build up "forearm rotation muscle memory", Phew! That was quite a mouthful. We need to do a few things right to eliminate the slice, and one of the most important things is to rotate our hands through impact on the golf ball. Also we want to attack the ball from the inside in the down swing.
The Drill...
Stand upright and hold the driver or bat away from you horizontally, at about waist height. Now rotate your shoulders and arms around your body and really over emphasize your arms rotating through impact. Keep practicing this upright golf swing with good arm rotation, and you will really notice a difference when you apply it to your normal swing.
The Result...
When we put this back to our normal swing, we should really feel our hands rotate through impact, adding draw spin on the ball. Picture this thought in your mind with your follow through, "you're pushing the club head outside the intended target line on impact with the ball".
Now there's something else we want to do here. At the start of your downswing, put a slight delay when you rotate your shoulders. The chances are you might be rotating your shoulders to early as well. Also begin your weight shift to your left side.
The Summary...
- Delay the rotation of your shoulders with the start of your downswing.
- Begin to move your weight onto your left side.
- Rotate your arms/hands through impact with the golf ball.
- Feel you are pushing the club head outside the parallel target line in your through swing.
This will teach you how to stop a slice in your golf swing using the baseball bat method. Take great care and enjoy your golf.
