How to stop a slice by checking your stance! More often than not a slice can be caused by poor alignment.
Are you hitting a severe left to right shot?
Yes! Ok let's help fix this for you by checking your stance. Two things can be your best friend here. The direction of your divot to target line, and your golf ball.
"My golf ball" I hear you saying! "How can my golf ball be my friend when it doesn't do what I want it to do?" Well let's put it this way, it's doing exactly what you're telling it to do, if you have poor aim!
First of all let's check our divot, after you have played your shot on the fairway stand behind your divot. Where is it pointing? Is it pointing left of target?
"Yes but I wasn't aiming there" You say. Well you're wrong! It's where your feet are more than likely aiming, and that's what we want to put right here. How can the golf ball be your best friend? Well again it's doing what you're telling it to do. By looking at the flight of your ball you can see what spin you are putting on it. If your ball goes left to right you are imparting slice spin on the ball. This means you are attacking the ball from outside the target line to inside.
Ok, so "How to stop a slice - Checking your stance" .
On the driving range place a club 3 inches in front of your feet, aiming just left of target. Now the reason the club is aiming just left of target is because the ball will be on the target line.
Picture a railway line going all the way to your target, and you are standing to the side of the railway line. The outer track, the one furthest away from you is directly facing the target (this is your golf ball), and the inner track, the line closet to you, is where your toes are aiming, just left of target.
Now address your golf ball with your toes 2-3 inches away from your club (so you don't catch it in your swing) and swing at the ball. You now know you are aiming correctly and that your slice is not due to poor alignment.
