Writing is a passion, a hobby, a pastime and something that required dedication. So, if you've got a flair for writing and would like to string together all your words and turn it into a job, then writing an EBook would be absolutely perfect for you! If you're new to writing an EBook, then here are some tips to get the ball rolling.
Before you start, you must first have a plan or a rough idea as to what your EBook is going to be about, so start by doing some research, planning, drafting and all that. You have to understand that not every project turns out as a success, so leave some room for failures and disappointment and use this space as a stepping stone to start all over again. You may feel like the whole process from now till the end is quite daunting, but once you actually start and get into it, you might find that you actually love the process.
Don't be too impatient to hit the accelerator, you need to prepare yourself for the rough waters, so don't start writing until you've got yourself some motivation. You may have quite a few reasons to write or maybe just one, what whatever the reason may be, write it down on a piece of paper and stick it somewhere where you'd be able to look at it at all times. This will help give you that boost when you feel like giving up. Your reason is personal and can be anything, from financial gain, career advancement, self satisfaction or whatever else.
When it comes to writing, don't pick a topic off the top of your head but instead, pick a topic that you personally find interesting and know quite a lot about. You can't write about something without enough facts, supporting information, details and so on. Once you have settled on a subject and have done sufficient research, come up with a title. This is very important since the title of any story is what grabs the reader's attention, so make it sound exciting with a funny or quirky title that truly describes your EBook. Don't lie or exaggerate in your title, you must deliver what you promise in order to hold your readers interest and gain their loyalty. If you're trying out titles, come up with a few and write them down then you can pick the one that sounds the best, it helps to get opinions from others but the choice is yours in the end.
Here's the green light; start writing. Start by writing your thesis statement, which would act as the head to your book. Many people tend to overlook this part and not understand why their EBook didn't do well, so make sure you have a thesis statement first. If you're not sure what it is, then look it up. Basically, it's just a short article on it's own that you begin your book with; it should contain the subject of your book, your personal opinion for choosing the subject, some information that supports your opinion and the significance of it all. Of course the details of your thesis statement can change through your entire writing process since you may be inspired and come up with new ideas, but by the time you finish your EBook, you should have a solid thesis statement to go with it.
So write away and free your mind from clutter to give you space for new thoughts and you'd be on a roll!
