I did ok with some of my initial affiliate marketing attempts but things really got fun and profitable once I began building opt-in email lists to accommodate the niches I worked in. It is pretty simple to get started and you can do it even if you are over 40, no college education and don't have alot of money. (Not saying that describes you) My point is, anyone can do this.

Getting started just means taking the first step. The direction does not matter.

First off you need to get your technology in a row. You need a domain name, a web site with hosting and an autoresponder. Sounds like a lot but do a few searches and you will figure this all out in less than a day.

Next you best plan your game. Decide on who your ideal customer is, what he earns, how educated he is and his current technology level and then work up a profile. Use the profile when writing messages, Both your sales copy on your squeeze page and your autoresponder messages. Targeting your message when doing email marketing is going to put you ahead of your competition.

Once things are set up, you need traffic. You can do this multiple ways and can spend a fortune, or can take your time and spend close to nothing. You can do ezine advertising, cost per click or banner advertising as paid options. You can do article marketing, social networking and JV deals for free. What ever you decide, list building requires traffic.

Be Aware: If you do not do something, you will be in the same spot a month, a year or five years from now. Do something and do it today.
