How to Stage a House Using Vignettes

Many people think that you have to re-do the entire house in order to do a good home staging job.

On the contrary, though, there are times when the statement, "Less is more" is meaningful in home staging. This is why many successful home stagers recommend doing vignettes.

Vignettes are small scenes that are set up in different parts of the home to make it seem more comfortable, while not requiring you to haul big, bulky furniture all around the house. Vignettes, more often than not, make the home feel more homey than a fully redecorated house.

You can virtually set up any kind of vignette you want to, as long as it looks appropriate for the house and makes it more attractive for potential buyers. However, to help you get started on vignettes, here are a couple of ideas that work with any kind of house.

1. Set up a small breakfast table in one corner of the kitchen. You can place a beautiful teapot and matching cups next to a small bouquet of fresh, morning flowers. Alternatively, you can place a bottle of wine beside crystal wineglasses and light some candles if the buyer wants to visit the home during the evening.

2. Place a comfortable rocking chair on the patio in front of the house. You can also put some knitting supplies or a blanket and a good book on the chair.

3. Hang clean, fluffy towels on a towel rack inside the bathroom. You can also arrange clean-smelling bathroom essentials in a basket and have the basket placed next to the tub or in the shower.

There are a lot of things you can do to stage a home using vignettes.
