Many vocalists find that their voices start to go out on them just when they need it the most. When they are on tour or when they are recording, their voice decides to start cracking or their throat starts hurting. If this is happening to you, then you may need to learn how to sing without straining your voice before it is too late.
Singing is hard work, and it is even harder on your throat than you know. If you are in a recording session, you may be singing for several hours every day and that is simply too much for most people. If you are on tour, you may be singing for several hours every day as well, and under difficult conditions. The human throat is not meant to handle this kind of abuse. You need to know how to sing without straining your voice before you do permanent damage.
The first key to saving your voice is to use it only when you have to. Of course, you need to practice, but singing loudly and often can hurt it. Secondly, you have to drink lots and lots of fluid in order to keep your vocal cords well lubricated all the time. Many professional singers swear by hot tea and honey or lemon in order to soothe their throats.
If you want to know how to sing without straining your voice, you should follow the advice of people who tour or are on stage every night. They take care of their bodies, they take care of their throats, and they treat their throats like very precious instruments. They don't yell or scream, they talk in quiet voices, and they resist talking unless they absolutely have to. By taking care of your voice like this, you can have a strong voice for a long time.
