- Check your word choice, making sure you find the best ones that convey your exact meaning. Never settle for a word that "may" communicate it correctly, taking into the account context of usage.
- Catch sentences that begin with a preposition and see if there's a way to write them in a more vibrant manner.
- Remove as many prepositional sentences as you can. The only thing that should stop you is if cutting one out destroys a sentence's meaning. Otherwise, snip it - it adds no particular value.
- Watch how your sentences vary. Too many long sentences can ruin the flow, just as too much simple constructions can make the work sound elementary.
