Shower faucets from Moen have always endeavored to give homeowners complete satisfaction. From the state-of-the-art one piece design that ensures remarkably quick and trouble-free installation to very advanced cartridges that come minus the daunting presence of washers or springs, these fixtures have managed to liberate homeowners from the constraints of complicated installation and replacement procedures.

But still, the thought of how to replace Moen shower faucet that's as old as your house can make any homeowner innately skeptical. But before you decide to seek salvation from the yellow pages, try out the following procedure. It's sure to prevent a drain on your bank account, if not anything else.

Set Sail Into Uncharted Waters

So without any further ado, jettison that intransigence about performing this arduous task yourself, and get down to some serious business. Here's how:

  • Start off by turning off the main water valve of the house.
  • Open the faucet, and keep it in that state for a while to prevent the water in the lines or that getting past the valve from making inroads into the wall.
  • Remove the handle, the plastic cover and the screw, and in that order only.
  • The screws that keep the chrome plate firmly in its place are next to go. However, there are some faucets that can be repaired without this step.
  • Using needle nose pliers remove the pin holding up the cartridge. Sometimes, it might be a little intractable to deal with, which can be attributed to the presence of hard water. In such an eventuality, pass the baton on to a plumbing professional.
  • It's time to ascertain the extent of the damage to the cartridge. If it's in a deplorable condition, don't bother to repair it. Just replace it with a new one, something Moen will do willingly without any charges.
  • Before the new cartridge makes its way into the precincts of the faucet, make sure the walls of the faucet are cleaned thoroughly and coated with plumbing grease. Ditto for the new part.
  • Insert the cartridge in perfect position. Now, replace the pin, sleeve and chrome plate.

All Fervent Prayers Answered

In all probability, you're sure to experience a surge of undiluted pride the moment you turn the water back on. Congratulations! It's now time to replace the handle and bask in the glory of your accomplishment.
