A broken relationship is so traumatic and painful that most partners try to avoid it, even to the point of stickin with a relationship that is no longer working. But when it happens, both members can feel feelings of resentment, bitterness and betrayal. It's only natural. They pain brought about by a break up, even one you initiated, is immeasurable. But if you think your relationship is worth another chance, then you need to understand the steps to take to try to mend your broken relationship.
The first step, honestly, is to get a life. After a breakup, you have the natural inclination to hide yourself, become a couch potato, and spend your days bored and sleepless. You sit around and watch tv, while thinking of nothing but your failed relationship, and how things could have gone differently. This isn't helping. What you should be doing, what you must do, is get a life. Go out with friends and family, have a cup of coffee, or a drink, go bowling or mini-golfing. Get out to the movies, or do anything active that can work as a distraction. Doing this will teach you the most important lesson, that life still exists outside of your relationship. Sure, it's hard, but it will show you that a failed relationship isn't the end of your social life. Once you realize this, you will begin to see clearer, and better understand what to do to mend your broken relationship.
Next, get in shape. Keeping your body active is just as important as keeping your mind active. Add excercise or aerobics to your daily routine, and try to remain physically active. It will show in your outlook and in your outward appearance if you do. Once you start to feel good about yourself, both physically and emotionally, you'll be ready to either bounce back to your failed relationship, or move on, if it can't be saved.
Many people don't treat themselves well after a breakup, and therefore, never give themselves a chance to repair it. Getting over emotional, or becoming lazy or uninteresting is not the way to fix your break up, or move on. You need to mend yourself, then work on mending your relationship, one way or the other. It works, every time.
