It is a little overwhelming when you begin to compare life insurance quotes. It may seem more difficult than deciphering the fine print in a loan document! Here are some points that might help you as you compare the differences between life insurance policies.
You will hear these terms discussed as you begin to examine quotes: whole life policy and term life policy. A whole life policy is basically a permanent policy that has premiums that will not change. Term life policies expire. Should you choose to renew a term life policy, it will be more expensive. Whole life policies build a cash value, and term life policies do not. Whole life policies, then, are going to be justifiably higher in premium rates than term life polices.
So, since whole life policies are more expensive, when you are comparing premium prices, be sure you are not comparing "apples to oranges." If there is a big difference in price for the same amount of death benefit, be sure that the two different policies are for the same type of policy, whole or term.
If a policy is an annual renewable term insurance, it will increase in premiums as you age. The policy premiums may begin to be very affordable, and then they will increase significantly. If you are wanting coverage to last through your senior years, this is not the best option for you.
It is a good choice for a cheap, short-term policy, but it will be very expensive as you get older. Initially, the premium may seem too good to be true, so you need to be aware of this type of policy. In the long term, a level term policy is a much better choice. The initial premiums may be higher, but over the years it will not escalate so much.
As you compare life insurance quotes, be sure that you understand what you are evaluating. While one policy may be considerably cheaper, it may not even be remotely similar in coverage. You can easily get quotes online by just completing a short form, and you will have information at your fingertips in moments.
