How to Play a Golf Draw Or Hook Shot - Secret Tips That Get You Hitting the Golf Ball Like a Pro!

It's a great asset to be able to shape the golf ball, especially from right to left (right handers) for golfers of all levels. Not only does a golf draw shot travel further because of the over spin, it allows the golfer to attack pin positions that otherwise would be unattainable.

Most professional golfers play with a draw and the reason is it's a stronger shot with more distance. It also lays the foundation of a better swing path being from inside to out. If you've been a slicer all of your life it can be difficult to play a golf draw shot. But it only requires a few basic changes to start doing it right.

Say for example you have hit the golf ball from the left side of the fairway and you need to shape the ball right to left to get it around a big group of trees to the green. Your set up and alignment play a vital role in ensuring the flight of the golf ball bends from right to left and towards your intended target.

Firstly, aim for a spot to the right of the trees where you would like the ball flight to begin. Next, adjust your stance so that your left foot (leading foot for right handers) is further forward than your right foot (i.e. an angled stance). You should still be aiming to the same spot right of the trees. Next aim the club head to the green or the spot where you would like the golf ball to end up.

Lastly, ensure you don't throw the right arm at the golf ball on the downswing to try and steer the golf club. Let the left arm lead on the downswing and allow the club head to naturally strike the golf ball on an inside to outside swing path. This will help encourage the right over spin on the golf ball which will result in a golf draw shot.
