How to Paint a Mural

For whichever reason, murals are a nice and economic way to vamp up any wall you desire changed. Murals are found in many locations and sometimes are painted my new muralists, experiences artists or persons that wanted to do it themselves to enjoy the act of being creative. Mural painting can be fun and done by anyone with little to much experience.

There are a few steps to take when painting a mural on your own and with little professional help. The hardest part is to come up with a design or idea you would like painted on your wall. Don't worry, you can look up images online that can give you ideas and you can even search other murals that have been painted in similar locations as to where you would like to paint your mural.

Before painting anything sketch out your deign or print the image of what you would like and change or add the colors you would like to make your mural original. After you have decided on what you want painted visit your local art supply store or home improvement store and purchase the colors that match your image best. For new mural painters this will be much easier because you will not have to mix colors to match your image. Make you by a variety of paintbrushes to create different stroke, masking take to cover where you do not want paint, drop clothes and a step stool for higher places.

After you have purchased all the necessities you will need to clear out the area in which you are painting. Cover the floor furniture and places you do not want paint on and prep your wall by wiping it down with a damp cloth to make sure the surface is clean and read for the new paint that will be applied.

Next you sketch your image on the wall and feel free to make small changes and make sure to step back and check for size and to be sure you centered your image. This is the time to make adjustments changes or make spontaneous additions to your design.

Once you are done and have made all your changes and finalized your sketch it's time for the fun part. Begin painting your mural and have some music playing to help you along the way. This part can take a while but try not to get caught up in the small details on your first mural because a mural is seen as a whole and not at individual small sections. Work throughout the painting and not in one areas so that completing the painting can be faster and you can get to enjoying your newly painted wall mural.
