It is easy to feel stressed when things become too much, you feel out of control or believe that you cannot meet the demands that have been placed on you. However, there are simple steps you can take today to minimise stress and pressure in your life. Here are my top 15 tips.

1. Put things into perspective. If you are worrying about something, think about what you can control about the situation or make it work out for you. Then take action.

2. Take some time out for you. Schedule time into your day for a break, whether you go for a walk, read a book, or sit somewhere quiet.

3. If you are feeling pressure, take 10 seconds to breathe. Stop, take some deep breaths before you take action or make a decision.

4. When you have a lot of things to do, take time to prioritise your list to make time work better for you. What activities are going to give you the best rewards or outcomes?

5. If you have a huge task to achieve, break it down into manageable chunks and then decide what you are going to do today.

6. If you are faced with a situation you don't like, such as the job you are doing, how can you reframe it to have a positive spin? For example, it may give you experience towards undertaking a more enjoyable job or allow you the chance to train for a new career.

7. Know your limitations and what you can achieve. If you need extra support, ask someone to help you to free up more time for other things you need to do.

8. Don't put off things you don't want to face as you will feel better once you have completed that task or made a difficult phone call.

9. Do tasks to the best of your ability and remember that it doesn't have to be perfect.

10. Recognise your triggers and hot buttons, and if someone presses your hot button, stop before you take action and think about your response.

11. Leave your job at work and focus on what you are going to do with any leisure or family time you have.

12. Remember to eat healthily, sleep well and get regular exercise.

13. Believe in yourself and your ability to do something and have trust in your intuition and instincts.

14. Your thoughts impact on the way you feel each day, so make them positive, focused and energetic.

15. Be kind to yourself and remember to laugh everyday!
