How to Make a Wooden Fingerboard

Most finger skateboards that can found at the big box retailers are made of plastic. Many people find these basic plastic models to unresponsive and they desire a wooden deck. With only a few tools and some sheets of wood veneer you can make your own wooden board.

What You Need:

Fingerboard Mold: Usually made of plastic but can be found made of other hard materials.

5 Sheets Wood Veneer: Thin sheets of wood usually maple or cherry is used and its cut against the grain.

Wood Glue: Used to hold the pieces of veneer together,a brush may also be used but fingers are fine.

Clamps: Clamping the fingerboard mold compress the wood.

Razor: Used to cut out fingerboard deck shape, scissors may also be used.

Sand Paper: Gives a smooth feel to the edges,starting with a rougher and working to a smoother grit.

Plastic Tech Deck: Used to keep all the measurements correct.

1. Using your fingers apply wood glue fully to the fronts of all the sheets of wood veneer.
2. Line up the wood along the edges and place in the mold,keeping the wood flat.
3. Clamp the mold tightly wipe of excess wood glue and allow the to set up over night.
4. Remove clamps,placing a tech deck over the glued sheets of veneer and tracing the fingerboard shape.
5. Use the razor or scissors to carefully cut along the traced fingerboard shape.
6. Sand all around the wooden fingerboard,achieving a smooth surface.
